Skill Build Youth

Aim

Our Skill-build scheme provides help and support to 16/17 year olds in their personal development - assisting young people develop their ICT and basic skills.

Our 12-week programme is an opportunity to provide the ICT qualifications and work-experience vital to young people taking their first steps into the world of ICT. A Training Adviser supports the trainee and those providing the work experience placement, to ensure that all parties achieve maximum benefit from the scheme.

Eligibility

You are eligible for this scheme if you:

  • Are 16-17 years old
  • Need support with basic skills and/or jobseeking skills
  • Are unsure what job you’d like to do

How you benefit from the the scheme

As a Skill Build learner you can get:

  • A training allowance of at least £50 per week
  • Help with travel expenses.
  • Work placements and ‘tasters’
  • Training in basic skills if necessary
  • Specific job seeking skills such as CV writing and interview technique.
  • Training towards a recognised qualification such as City & Guilds eQuals "Certificate for IT Users" and ECDL at level 1 or 2.
